Youth Theatre
A.R.T.S. Youth Theatre is a real passion project for us. The dream is to raise the standards of youth lead productions in the local area, showcasing the wealth of young talent we have on the Fylde Coast.
Led by our principal, our Youth Theatre programme is production orientated. We aim to create important, poignant and challenging work. A lot of the material we take on has an important message or relevance to the youth of today. This ensures our company enjoy working on our productions, but it also makes them more motivated to create the best piece of theatre they can. There is a responsibility for each performer to treat the material with respect and sensitivity.
You can join our Youth Theatre programme via an audition process. To audition, we usually require a monologue and a musical theatre song of your choice. Successful applicants will be contacted and offered a place. During productions, unfortunately, you will be unable to join us, as this negatively impacts rehearsals and casting.
Our Youth Theatre is open to young performers from 14 years of age to 18. This is due to some of the more mature content some of our productions may include. It also ensures that there is a reasonably consistent age demographic within the group and that our company is comfortable working with one another.
We are currently holding auditions for our upcoming production of ‘Anthony Neilson’s’ ‘The Wonderful World Of Dissocia’. A fantastically fun play, with a dark twist, that raises awareness of mental health and in particular dissociative disorders.
THE WONDERFUL WORLD OF DISSOCIA
Lisa Jones is on a journey. It’s a colourful and exciting off-kilter trip in search of one lost hour that has tipped the balance of her life. The inhabitants of the wonderful world she finds herself in – Dissocia – are a curious blend of the funny, the friendly and the brutal.
We invite any young actors interested in being involved in the production to get in touch via phone or email. Auditions will be held sometime in August; the exact date is still to be confirmed.
